Troyes

public surveillance intervention

Troyes

I and my collaborator, artist Janina Anderson, printed this cube with QR codes and placed it in the town square of Troyes, France, a public space overlooked by two publicly‑accessible surveillance cameras. Its QR codes link to webpages where the footage from the cameras can be seen in real time. Residents who scan the code could suddenly see a video of themselves being watched from one of two different angles, alerting them to the ongoing surveillance in their town.
